Flat Imac RAM problem

I just installed 512 RAM into a new Imac 800.... however the computer is not recognizing the memory, and in the system profiler it says that the ram is "Not Compatible". I'm pretty sure that I ordered the correct type of RAM, does anybody have an idea as to what is the problem?

Exactly what type of RAM did you get? And did you get it from a reputable reseller?

Apple computers are very picky about RAM. If you put in a slower or under-spec'd chip, it'll barf on you. This was a big issue in the infamous firmware update last year, but most of the retailers were kind enough to replace bad chips they had sold recently.
