G4 int CDRW

Anyone experiencing difficulty burning at x8 speed on the Sony internal CDRW of a G4/533? in OS 9.1 I use Toast 4 and Waveburner Pro 2.2 - it reads OK in simulation mode but when I then go to burn it always posts an error. It's been OK at x6 speed. Any ideas? I could understand it if it's being asked to do x32 speed.

Try a CD-R that is garanteed upto the speed of your int CDRW as most unbranded or branded CD-R's only go upto 8x or 12x at best most 4x though.

Yep, I'm using all sorts - cheap and expensive. Discs that burn fine on my firewire external at x16 speed get rejected at x8 on the internal whether they're fast, slow, cheap, or expensive.

    Any thoughts?

I too have the same problem as Bertie. Same machine, 533 G4 Power Mac with an 8x Sony internal (factory fitted). It just burns coasters with most CD-Rs. In simulation it's ok - then when burning - there's usually an error.

When I borrow my friend's 16x FW external - it burns fine at all speeds on all media.

    Can anyone help?
