Well the good news is I finally replaced my aging Lombard 400 with a brand new Titanium G4 800. The bad news is that after 3 days it has a blue line vertically through the screen. Pardon my stupidity but is there some special way to open a Ti Book, I know my Lombard is/was pretty invulnerable. Is there some way to fix this without sending it to Apple? Am I lucky enough that it may just be a lose connection. Any feed back would be appreciated.

    sounds like a hardware-problem

ahhhh... open up like: with a screwdriver? or open up the lid?

if you (can) fix it yourself - you loose warranty.

did you order over the internet?

if not - go back and show them the powerbook - maybe they can do something.

in europe they don't touch the baby and send it in to apple netherland. and then you wait....

    i hope so.

but i wouldn't open the case of my powerbook if i still had warranty.

    Update:

CompUSA replaced it with only a minimal amount of complaining on my part.

What I meant by a special way to open was in reference to the display. The guy I sub contract for tells me that if i use one hand and open it from the edges that will mess the screen up. It seems to be true bassed on the last Ti Book.

    cool.

to bad that this stuff happens with brand-new hardware.

    yep!

i allways open with one hand in the middle of the display.

watch out that you don't squeeze the baby to much - i mean press the display towards the keyboard.

    leaves marks on the display.
