That dockling simply hides and unhides apps. Real multiple desktop implementations, although similar, are a bit more complex and powerful. Search around some unix or linux websites and you'll find plenty of information and pictures.

No one as found a way to do this. It's generally assumed that OSX's window manager only allows one "desktop" at a time.
Multiple desktops is a feature of specific window managers, not unix. It is not a feature inherent to all unixes.
