Can you use an airport base station but NOT use apple's airport cards?



& vise versa: can you use a non-apple base station [wireless router] and use apple's wireless airport cards?



when using WEP, does the connection slow down THAT much? noticeable?

    Yeah, you can use hardware from companies besides Apple.
