I have searched the previous posts and I am doing everything that is suggested. I have searched the Apple website knowledgebase and I can't see what I am overlooking.

I am trying to connect my G4 tower to my new Tibook through an Ethernet hub. Everything looks good and I have internet so connectivity is good. The browser shows each computer but it WILL NOT TAKE MY PASSWORD. It says "user unknown or log on turned off. I have checked the password settings on both machines and they are correct. Why does my password not work or why can't I turn it off?

Some one please help me, I am going mental.

    I'm guesssing you are using OS 9 since you say you can see the computers. Is file sharing turned on?

    have you tried logging in using the owner name and password? try using the chooser instead? and of course is file sharing turned on?
