I think the "Mail" program screwed up my e-mail. I havn't recieved mail for the longest time, and when I mail myself it says "user mailbox full" so I turn on that "delete mail from server when downloaded" thing and it still doesn't work. How can I fix this?

Plus is there another OS X mail app I can try?

    use webmail.mac.com to manage your account(emptying deleted messages and so forth), much easier imo.

    My mac.com account keeps giving me warnings about getting full, and I've found that a good solution is to make some Personal Mailboxes and drag things over. The messages seem to reside on the server while they're in your mac.com account in Mail. Once you take them out, they get deleted from the server. This helps recovering from a file corruption, but you quickly run out of space, so I've taken to moving everything with an attachment out of there.

    here's what you need to do. Load Outlook Express or some other email program, set it up to delete messages off of server once downloaded, and connect to your server. You'll get all of your email that you've received since you started using mail.app and it may take a while, but once this is done, the messages are now off of the server. Now you can go back to mail.app and it will work properly from now on. For some reason, once your server is full and mail.app encounters this, changing the "delete mail from server" option won't help you.

    Everyone gets 5 MB of space for the e-mail alone. That should be enough for hundreds upon hundreds of messages.

    I've just encountered the same problem. Unfortunately, I'm too stupid to find that "delete from server" dialogue box. I set it for one of my accounts but not the other and now I can't seem to recall how to set it.

    Help?

    Yep. I haven't tried it yet, but Eudora is out for OSX:

    To set up Mail to delete off the server:

    Preferences->Accounts->Edit->Account Options

    The checkbox is on that panel.

    I've tried Eudora, and was not all that impressed with it. It did work, but I wasn't very impressed with the interface (and the advertisments, but you can fix that by paying for it). Try a search under the Mac OS X Downloads section of the Apple site, they'll have several. Just use trial versions until you find something you like.
