A federal agency gave a verdict on Monday that a set of significant features commonly found in smartphones are protected by an Apple patent, a judgment that could force modifications in how Google?s Android phones operates.



The ruling, by the United States International Trade Commission, is one of the most important up to now in an increasing array of closely watched patent battles being waged around the world by nearly all of the key players in the mobile industry. These fights mirror the heated rivalry among the companies, especially as Android phones gain market share.



Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) last session volume of 12.05 million shares was lesser than its average volume of 13.94 million shares. The stock after opening at $387.76 hit high price of $396.10 and then closed at $395.95 by scoring +3.59%.



The liquidity measure in recent quarter results of the company was recorded 1.61 as current ratio and on the other side the debt to equity ratio and long-term debt to equity ratio was remained flat. The Company had total cash at hand $25.95 billion and a book value per share as $82.45 in the most recent quarter.



The stock price volatility was 1.73% for a week and 1.65% for a month as well as price volatility?s Average True Range for 14 days was 7.70 and the beta stands on 1.22 times.

    Yeah, it seems to be referring to this:

    but it mentions a 'set of features' so maybe there's more to come. HTC's response was classic: 'we'll just remove the feature from all of our phones'. Kind of like the 'joke's on you, I'll be dead by then' response.



    Perhaps one day, Android will be whittled back to the Blackberry clone it was born to be.
