A federal agency gave a verdict on Monday that a set of significant features commonly found in smartphones are protected by an Apple patent, a judgment that could force modifications in how Google?s Android phones operates.
The ruling, by the United States International Trade Commission, is one of the most important up to now in an increasing array of closely watched patent battles being waged around the world by nearly all of the key players in the mobile industry. Yeah, it seems to be referring to this:

but it mentions a 'set of features' so maybe there's more to come. HTC's response was classic: 'we'll just remove the feature from all of our phones'. Kind of like the 'joke's on you, I'll be dead by then' response.
Perhaps one day, Android will be whittled back to the Blackberry clone it was born to be.
