Can we turn OS X Menu Blinking off?

Can we turn off menu blinking under OS X as we could under OS 9?



Since OS X is a pre-emptive multitasking OS, does OS X start opening a selected menu item while the menu is still blinking? Even if it won't save time opening something, I'm used to no menu blinking. It's quite superfluous.



Is it a "hidden" option somewhere, that some shareware like TinkerTool (for example) might be able to toggle?

    OS X sure is powerful. Except when it comes to the interface of course. I'm surprised Unsanity hasn't fixed this. These have basically brought back OS 9's UI feature set. Kudos to them, maybe if Apple's unresponsive I'll write them. They seem to be able to do anything!



    So is my assumption about OS X starting work on the item before the blinking goes away correct?

    As far as I can tell, the action doesn't start until the menu has stopped blinking and faded away.
