need to get bootable media for 7100

ok, so back to this 7100 someone gave me. i got it booting, only to get a question mark disk. so here is what i want to do: format & install mac os 6 or 7 (i think one of them is free).



i'm so used to working on pcs that i feel a bit clueless.



how do i format, minding that i cannot load an OS.



i hear apple released an older OS for free...which one is it, and where can i get (if i can get it) an ISO so i can just boot from a cd.

    you can download a boot floppy image and make a floppy from it.



    System 7.5.5 and lower are a free download from apple. once you have the boot floppy and the OS disk images on a cd you can do the install.
