Best MP3 Encoder for the Mac
I got an iPod as some of you know and loaded it up. Maxxed it out and only have 740 songs or so. Now some of that is due to some of the songs' lengths but it is also because everything I have is 192K/sec and the iPod is rated 1000 at 160K/sec
Using iTunes I can hear a difference between 160 and 192 and none of the songs I encode sound as good as some others that I have from other encoders.
So what is the best mac compatible encoder for 160K or VBR that is inbetween 160 and 192?

No question.
<strong>LAME 3.92 + the iTunes/LAME Encoder AppleScript.

just got it. thank you. can yu reccomend how to set it up for the best results at the bitrate I want.
Or how to set up the VBR for that area between 160 and 192?
"--alt-preset <bitrate>" will create VBR files for the given bitrate.
<strong>"--alt-preset standard" should create files around 192 kbps

gracias.
really appreciate the help.
<strong>why not just jump the gun and go mp4? seems that 128k is the same as 192k mp3 style....</strong><hr></blockquote>
Believe me. I am dieing to do that but the iPod doesn't support MP4 yet.
the minute it does I am all over it.
The LAME encoded MP3s clearly sound better on my iPod.
It says use -v n to change the settings but replacing n with 3 or typing n=3 comes up an error.
any help would be appreciated
