saga of the 7100
7100 given to me. told it "doesn't work." have no software.
7100 sitting in my living room, not working. managed to get it to boot a 7.5 disk tools. before entering finder, a box popped up saying my hard drive was screwed up and that i should initialize it. error, can't initialize. ugh! i go into disk tools, and it says it finds errors but it can't repair them. double ugh! okay, and this is the worst part...whenever i shutdown after booting from a startup disk, it destroys the floppy and it becomes unbootable! what in the world is going on?
i have an external 2 gb scsi drive running on id 1. should my mac be recognizing this drive? it hasn't been, but i haven't been turning it on in time either. how can i make it so it boots from the external by default? if i unplug the internal, will the external get id 0? questions questions.

The ID won't change but it should boot from the external if it can't find the internal.
Does this 7100 have a CD?
Can you lock the floppy to prevent it from wrecking it?
