hi all, if any knowledgable about oSx ports can you

please tell me why port 1033 would be on listen all the time? Even when im not connected to the internet! Im thinking its part of the unix core or

maybe the apache services? Is there any way to close

this port?

I dont have OSx server, and the only extra package

i have is the unix package that comes with osx.

thanx...

From what I found, it doesn't look good.

I also have a resource that says ports 1033-1039 are unassigned, but I think the culprit is NetSpy.

    Try a virus scan?

EDIT- It looks like it only works on windoze (NetSpy). Anyway, good hunting.

OS X uses port 1033 for NetInfo. It used to use two ports between 600-1024 but that was changed with 10.1. try scanning your computer from any other computer...it won't show up as open.
