How do I open a Performa/Quadra 630?

I bought a Performa 630 CD yesterday at an auction. It works, but when I boot it up, it gives me the blinking "?" in a disc. I want to open it up so I can check to see the cables are connected right and, if neccessary, put in another drive. I found out how to pull out the logic board, but I can't find anywhere how to get to the drives. Can anyone help?

underneath the front cover are two tabs.

get a flat head screw drivers and push the tabs in and wiggle the front faceplate off.

once that off you have access to the optical and floppy drives. in order to get to the hard drive you must remove an addition metal plat which is connected by a single philips head screw I believe.

the optical drive can be a bitch to get out. be patient it will come out. you just have to use a lot more force than you would expect.

We got 2 630's for our daycare at $25 ea, with

key/mouse and monitors. The faceplates were a

pain--but we found that they would go back on if

you depressed the tabs while pushing the plate

back down (using a screwdriver, file, something

like that). I had to alternate between the two

tabs to get it to go, but it did work.

I paid $20. I had a 17" multiscan from last year, so I decided to buy the 630, put in the TV/Video system, and use it as a TV in my room.
