Airplay stops streaming when autolock time arrives

Since iOS5 (including 5.01) airplay stops streaming at the moment my iPhone (both 4 and 4S) or iPad (bith 1 and 2) goes to sleep. (that means when auto-lock time has arrived). My ATV2 is running the latest firmware. I know I can set auto-lock to never, but that drains my battery. Any other solutions?
