Hi,
I cannot get my Mac to boot from a CD so that I can defragment my hard drive.
Does anyone know what my options are?
I have severe fragmentation and really need to fix this.
Thanks in advance for your assistance
David

Have you pressed [Command]-C at startup? That should direct the computer to your CD/DVD drive for startup.

Yes, I have tried that to no avail.
I have also tried burning a System and Norton Speed Disk on a CD and setting the CD as the startup disk also with no good results.

Did the 9.1 disk come with the G4?
Does the G4 have 9.1 installed or did it ship with 9.2.x
Some of the newer G4's might require 9.2.x to boot.
Also when you burned your system disk did you use toast? did you check the bootable box?
Hope this helps...

try holding CMD-Option-Shift-Delete if holding down C doesn't work. That forces the computer to look for different system folders.
