problems with ibook cd/dvd drive

I've got an ibook (old model, 466mHz SE), and I've been blissfully happy with it at some points and ready to throw it out the window other times. It's the latter right now, because my CD/DVD drive door refuses to shut. I've taped it closed with scotch tape. *sigh* Have any other ibook users had this problem? What's the deal, and does anyone know how much it'll run to get it fixed? (of course this happened RIGHT after my extended warranty ran out...how typical.) The drive does work, for CDs anyway. DVDs won't play. The best I can get is the main menu on any given DVD.

any suggestions?
