Last Idea...
I have no idea this will work, I've never tried it except on a Windows machine, so here goes.
Use a CD-RW disk. Theorhetically you should be able to create an index using sherlock no problem. The index will be saved onto the CD-RW. Then make straight copies of that disk. Again, I have no idea if it will work, but it's worth a shot.
Last Resort:
Create a partition on a hard disk and put your text files there, index with sherlock, and burn images of that partition onto CD.
