Is there any possible way to reset a keychain password without knowing the password as it currently is? My system password was forgotten and it was reset using the OS X install CD per instruction from my OS X book. However, after this I cannot access my keychain! As a result, Mail will not work at all, as the keychain is locked! Is there anything I can do? Thanks.

I assume that you are talking about these directions:

    1. Start up from the Mac OS X Install CD.

    2. Select Reset Password from the Installer menu.

    3. Select your Mac OS X hard disk volume.

    4. Set the selected user to the name of your original Admin.

Note: Be sure to select your Admin user name. Do not select "System Administrator". System Administrator is actually a referrence to the root user, and it should not be confused with a normal Admin user.

    5. Enter a new password.

    6. Click Save.

If these are not the steps that you followed, read Apple Article ID: 106156 on the Support part of their website.

Let me know if these are the things that you have already done.

I believe that is what I did. The computer only has one user account, being such I'm fairly sure that I had tried that before. Thanks.
