Questions about student ADC membership

I heard a lot of people talking about ADC memberships, particularly those for students. I read the Apple site about but I couldn't find the information I wanted. Is it just a thing you join and then you get developer stuff and a discount on a computer?

I'm not really much of a developer but if I could join I'd save about $200... I don't know if you can't join unless you're in some sort of computer class or what. It'd be great to get that discount, and as long as I'm getting free developer tools, I may learn a bit about that sort of thing while I'm at it.

So can any student join, or do you have to meet certain criteria? Thanks.

Yes, you have to take computer related classes.

It doesn't say anything on the site about you needing to actually be into computer classes, but I don't know. All that info is here:

Apple used to require that student developers be a CS or directly related major. This is no longer the case, any student can become an Apple Student Developer so long as you can prove that you are a student.

Also, iPod's don't count against your once in a lifetime discounted purchase, and should Apple release future digital lifestyle devices, they would not either.

That's cool about the iPods. I didn't know that.
