It is frustrating but it's also true that unlike in the past, the amount of reliable coverage of what is coming next for the Apple desktop machines has been really sparse. It could be that Apple is just doing a better job these days of protecting future product info, but I think that the distinct lack of information could also be due to the coming of something truely amazing.
It may just be wishful thinking but all we have to go on is our pessimism for now.
The "Yikes" machines are a good example of Apple's willingness to release a less than adequate update of the towers in order to give their hardware people more time to get the truely new stuff out.
Though I know MOSR has a bad rep on these boards they do have something up now about the idea that the Racer aquisition is about to bear fruit in the form of graphics co-processors to be included on the mobo. Even given MOSR's rep the idea does make sense. It is closer to the old AMIGA hardware model where the CPU is not the only thing handling tasks. Between that, a faster bus and memory, larger faster cache and some increase in clock speed, you would have one mean beast. There was talk of doing this before with the Philips Trimedia chip but it could be that Apple decided doing it themselves was a better idea.
Harder to market than Mhz but certainly in the case of most pro users, we know better anyway. I am determined to be hopeful. I already work on the alterative (Wintel). In the face of that horror I can't see much choice than to be positive.
If i where you i will neve ask on a forum to delete me, perhaps there is a professional killer around here, who find you sympathic, and decide to do the job for free ... <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" />
