Configuring Airport Network
Just got my new iBook and airport stuff and I'm trying to configure an Airport network with my G4(no airport card), my iBook with airport card and base station.
Running OS X 10.1.4. and 9.2.2
Do I need a card for the G4? I was told to connect the G4 to the basestation with cable (?) and to equip the iBook with a card
And where do I get an Avatar logo ?
cheers,

If you got the new Airport Base stations
You should see that the back looks like this. You would plug your G4 into the LAN port from a ethernet card (a 10/100 BaseT card should work fine ... just look for the 10/100 part the 'baseT' might not be on the package, these are definitely cheaper than the $100+ for wireless cards). Your Cable modem/DSL would go into the WAN port. ( or phone line into the modem jack if you are using a dial-up )
WAN stands for 'Wide Area Network'. And in this case the WAN is your ISP's network. (WAN does NOT stand for Wireless Area Network ... use WLAN which stands for 'Wireless Local Area Network') The LAN is your home network. Since you only have one other computer you don't have to worry about anything except plugging it into the correct port. But if you had more computers or if you add more you would hook up a hub or a switch to that LAN port and all the computers that you were putting on the network into that hub or switch. This would in essence chain them all to that one LAN port. The term 'daisy chaining' comes from this since you can use this to link many hubs and/or switches to each other in a 'chain'.

Note: The old Airport base stations (pre-April I think, not sure though) only have an ethernet port for the Cable modem/DSL (They only have a WAN port).
