I'm in a big hole here, after i replaced a .rsrc file in Finder, i can boot, but login wont load. is there a way that i can move the default file (sitting oh so close on my desktop) using Single User Mode? I've tries, but either my spelling is off or I'm doing it wrong.

If you can help that would be great.

In single user mode, you first mount the disk for write access:

    mount -uw /

then you should be able to copy the file back into place:

    cp ~/Desktop/file.rsrc /System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Resources/whatever
