I use Strata 3D Pro on Mac OS 9 and X. With large rendering and animations, Strata use about 900MB to 1.2GB of RAM on OS 9. Strata memory heap grow as he need more memory, so when I start rendering, Strata take about 30MB and grow up to 1.2GB . But on OS X, It's like that strata can only use about 600MB (begin at 30MB and max out a 600MB), thus multiply rendering time by 5. Someone know how to increase mem allocated to classic ?

It seem that classic have alway 1GB of VM+real mem allocated....

Thx !

I am no expert in this, but when classic is running, it is treated like any other OSX app, and given memory according to it's needs, or at least OSX's interpretation of them. This may well be an issue that you cannot circumvent. My suggestion is that if you are using an app with those type of massive memory requirements, boot up into native OS9. I know that this is really not a solution, but OSX gives you no way, that I know of, to dictate it's memory allocations.

Perhaps I am wrong, and there is some cunning "unixy" command line way to force an app to use a certain amount of memory, but I doubt it. Best way to find out is to find some old Unix hack, and ask them. Short of that...I say native os9. Good luck.
