Beige G3 Ram, iMac DV ram, compatibility, 100mhz but why? Et Cetera!

Ok, I'm ditching my Beige G3 in favor of a Lime iMac DV. Both of them use 100mhz SDRAM, so I assume I can plop a 128 dimm from the Beige box into the iMac. Could someone confirm this?

But here is what doesn't make sense. The Beige G3 has 100mhz SDRam but only a 66mhz system bus! What gives? Why in the world wouldn't they have used 66mhz sdram? I'm glad they didn't because now my iMac will have 100mhz SDRAM from the Beige box, but still...why??

i think it had to do with price and quality. at the time, 100Mhz was cheaper, and tended to be the nicer stuff.

other than that don't know. it's been a standard thing on Macs for a while, they use RAM one step higher than the system bus.

yeah that makes sense. does this mean the imac with the 100mhz bus wiill use 133mhz SDRAM? if so, can i combine 100mhz & 133mhz SDRAM to achieve 100mhz throughput (that should be fine since the imac system bus is 100mhz)

    Thanks!
