When is apple going to include Firewire networking in the OS itself. I hate to say it but windows(ever since WinME) already has this feature.

but no windows peecee has FireWire...
Dartblazer makes a good point. Target Disk Mode is NOT "networking." So I guess this won't be in Jaguar? Hopefully by 10.3... Oh wait! They'll have us pay for it in 10.4. Way to be Apple. Way to push FireWire. They bought Zayante, made the FireWire SDK free, let anyone use the FireWire logo free, but they don't have FireWire networking in the MacOS, when even Windows ME does!?
I'm sorry that's lame. Do they know how used that would be!? I use Target Disk Mode every day but I swear FireWire networking could replace Cat-5 someday, couldn't it? It would in my house that's for sure.
Yeah, I felt a bit embarrassed when I lent my FireWire PC card to a friend, and he proceeded to flawlessly network his laptop with his desktop. Didn't require setup at all. On Macs, you can't do that at all, and you have to restart to even move files between computers via FireWire. At least it's possible to transfer files with FW.
I want Fiber Channel-Arbitrated Loop! It was referred to under the definition to FireWire at dictionary.com, and apparently it's planned to reach 800MB per second. Unfortunately, it's only used on high-end servers, because of silly things like astronomical prices and huge power requirements.

Fire net:

Or set one of the computers in target disk mode. (hold down "t" while booting up)
