Appropriate Bit Rate for different video sources
Are there rules of thumb bit rates for converting video sources of different quality (VHS, 8 mm, Hi8, DV, 3 CCD DV, etc...) to mpeg2?
I know the complexity (ie. movement) in the footage is supposed to be a large factor in picking bit rate, but I would like to know in general what is the max needed bit rate for VHS, Hi8, and DV (520 lines).
