mail.app basic question

how do i change my outgoing name? right now when i send e-mails it says from jdoe@mac.com and i want it to say John Doe, i guess im missing something?

In the "Mail" menu, select Preferences. Click on Accounts, and then select the account you want to change. Then, click edit (right next to the box with your account(s) in it. The thing you want to change is the Real Name field.
