New IBook Freezes when Dialing
I have a new white IBook. when dialing up to the interent, as soon as I issue the dial-up command the entire system pauses for 10-15 seconds. the mouse moves, but jerkily, when it comes back, I then have to tell it to dial again. It usually does this after power-saving or from a fresh boot. What causes this delay, and how do I fix it?
Thanks in Advance for the advice!

Open System Preferences
Click on the "Network"
Click on the "Show" menu
Select "Active Network Ports"
You will see a list of ports available to your computer
Make sure "Internal Modem" checked and drag it to the top of the list.
Your computer may have been trying to search for a Network via Ethernet when waking up from sleep. Dragging "Internal Modem" to the top of your active ports list will tell your computer to stop searching for networks immediately once you start dialing your ISP. Your modem will now get the highest priority when connecting to Networks and you shouldn't have to wait for Ethernet to finish what ever it's doing. This may have been why your computer was hanging
Also make sure AppleTalk is disabled on all your ports.
Let me know if this doesn't work.
