IE HELP! Weird link-clicking problem

Hey everybody,

Whenever I click on a link to a picture, IE doesn't bring me to a new page with the picture on it. IT DOWNLOADS THE PHOTO onto my hard drive!!! Then Simpletext tries to open it but can't, no matter what the size of the photo is. A dialogue box opens up that sez "Simpletxt can't open this up blah blah blah" IE was working normally until this whole change happened. Is it a virus or a file mapping problem? Any and all help would be appreciated.

you could check the mime settings for the file ending (.jpg,...), maybe it is set to 'download to disk' for some weird reason. or just switch to mozilla.

I would love to switch but it's my brother's computer and he sticks to IE. When can check the file mapping : within IE or File exchange. This whole "downloading the picture instead of displaying it in the browser" has never happened before. Anybody else

what's the extension on the photos? If it isn't jpg or gif, IE might not be able to open it. Once it's on the hard drive CONTROL click it, choose show info and change the "open with application" option to something that can open it (preview, quicktime viewer, etc.)
