2nd hard drive has diasppeared

I was running 9.2 and selected my OSX drive as the start-up disk- not for the first time my OSX drive has disappeared, pressing Alt on start-up doesn't see it It doesn't mount under 9.2 . Drive 1.04 passes it as OK and so does disk utility on my 10.1 install disk yet it still won't mount. . In the past I' ve had to re-initialise it and start again, but in those days it was kernel panicking all the time and crashing so I took to it to a reseller for a fix, until now it was behaving itself. Any ideas?
