    "Any publicity is good publicity"

Besides I think Apple's PR department has done a great job handling these accusations.

I keep forgetting that they are by virtue of others doing it too exempt from criticism.

They don't really care about Apple. They care about riding the coattails of a high profile company to get their own idiotic message out there. Horns to them.

No, only the one that'll get them headlines. Let 'em try this with Nike or Acer or whoever... won't even raise an eyebrow.

When you do some thing well and and you gain popularity you end up making enemies no matter how hard you try to please those enemies.

Having lived in China since 1999 I can tell you Foxconn now has relatively luxurious working conditions. These idiots have no reference to how business is conducted in China. The short answer is, business ethics is a contadiction in terms in China and most of Asia. This is a country with 5000 years of continuous history, and for that vast majority, a brutal history. But no matter how abhorant to the bleeding hearts, they are the most successful culture in history. Why do think there are more Chinese than any other people. Their system works. Talk to the man on the street and they will tell you how good these workers have it. Try the other electronics manufacturers? Better yet, try the plight of Chinese construction workers. They usually live on site for the duration of a project, either in in simple Tin-roofed brick shacks, or converted shipping containers, with all their pay withheld until the end.

As said before these lot are only well-fed attention seekers; professional protesters, surely funded by competitors. Tell them when they have sat next to these people and hear how grateful they are to have a job, when they've eaten with them and find they're gaining weight because they have more than enough to eat for maybe the first time in their lives, then they might sing a different song.

Gee. Why let facts get in the way of a good, emotional argument in an attempt to tear down someone successful! Get Apple.

Seems reasonable. I wonder when Europeans will protest the terrible work conditions of the people making products in -- America?

The problem with setting standards on others is whose base you use -- yours or theirs!

What's the difference between these lunatics and the Westboro Church protesters? Not much I'd say. They're both shameless publicity whores and delusional radicals who go around spreading their extremely offensive and braindead ideas.

Hopefully the police will come and arrest them for being a public nuisance, disturbing the peace and for holding an illegal protest if they lack all of the necessary permits. Luckily for them, I won't be waiting in any Apple store line tomorrow, because I don't take too kindly to any dipshits.

So you admit to being a self loather? That's the first step

Exactly. Canadians can complain that women don't get a year paid maternity leave in the US. French can complain that our work week is so long. And Dutch and Germans can complain that we don't get enough vacation.

Time to start picketing American sweatshops.

Perhaps they should look at how US companies are treating their workers on US soil first, then try to save the rest of the planet, OK!

Ah, but that only matters if the "protesters" actually cared about the workers...

The picture really isn't doing much to make me take any of it seriously.

The reporters look like something out of "Just For Laughs - Gags" and the guy looks like he's being punk'd (is that how you spell it?) and he doesn't know it yet.
