p2p services from behind a school network

I just moved into a dorm, and I'm now connected to the internet through the school network. However, it seems to be blocking all of my ports, including those used for p2p file-sharing. Is there some way around this?

All my PC friends are having no trouble at all downloading through Kazaa or Morpheous, but I can't get out for the life of me. I've tried Limewire, Acquisition and iSwipe, all without success.

Any ideas?

    Try Neo. <a href="http://expert.cc.purdue.edu/~mthole/neo/"; target="_blank">http://expert.cc.purdue.edu/~mthole/neo/</a>; Its a KaZaA shadow client, which allows you to ping everyone between a specified IP range,checking for KaZaA hosts. Not bad if you invest some time into it...

    Actually, I've never been able to download any files, although the searches do come back with results. Does anyone know any workarounds for my ports being blocked, so I can use some other services?

    Right now the only one that seems to work, and it does that crummily, is a program called Myster.

    I'm not quite sure if it works this way but can't u just change what port limewire uses or other program uses? If thats how it works then i suggest finding out what ports ur friends pc get through on and use that.

    Don't know if thats how it works though

    I suppose it doesnt' hurt to try.

    Interestingly enough, I did a port scan on one of my PC friend's computers, and the same two ports were open, and no more. Now, all the PC users have been complaining about the speed of KaZaa with download speeds of less than .5 K/s . . . . absolutely rediculous for a school network where I can average 70 K/s on a internet download from VersionTracker.

    ::shrug:: I dunno.
