Every time I try to burn a CD with iTunes or disk burner X gives me some "unexpedted error code" and ejects the CD. Why  (G4 DDR, 10.2.1, factory superdrive)

I'll bet you need a 10.2-compatible driver for your CD-RW drive.

    Good luck,

 Shouldn't a new powermac (as in bought 2 days ago) come with one preinstalled?

Ok, this is getting mildly annoying. I open iTunes, set up a playlist, and hit burn CD. iTunes starts doing its thing and then the CD suddenly ejects and iTunes gives me some error code. Same thing happens with data CDs. (G4DDR, Superdrive, 10.2.1, iTunes 3.0.1, and the CDs are memorex CD-RW 4x)

    Suggestions anyone?

Have you tried CD-Rs instead? I've had problems with CD-RW's with my iMac DV 400 and an external Sony iLink (firewire) drive. Also, some CD players won't recognize the CD-RW even when burned to a music CD format; I speak from exp. on this one. Talk about a bummer - burn a couple o' cd's for a trip, only to discover the player in the car won't play 'em. Player in the living room would just fine though. So I re-formatted 'em and use 'em only for data back-up. CD-Rs only for music.

Another thing I've found, which probably isn't a problem for you, is that one needs to have ~700MB free disk space in order to burn ANY cd from ANY app.

    Hope this helps some.

I haven't tried CD-Rs, however that might help in iTunes and I will check later. But shouldn't I be able to burn data CD-RWs from the finder? The same "eject right after burn starts" thing happens there to.

Yes, of course, westonnm, but being that new you should be able to bring it in for warrenteed service, which it sounds like it needs.

    Good luck,

As it turns out the problem was with the CDs I was using and not the computer (thankfully). Thanks for your help everyone.
