I need to do a school presentation next week. I tried to link up my ibook to the projector using the adapter given. It was a perfect fit with the video cable of the projector.

Hoever, it doesn't work, even though all my friend PC laptops do. The projector screen keeps sayinh no input...

I read through the help files in the finder and it wasn't much use, It just said that once u connect to the VGA port, u will be able to display the image. Unfortunately, mine done and when I clicked the display options under system prefernce, there doesn't seem to be any options regarding an external projector..

Can anyone help me??? Am i missing anything. I cannot believe that my ibook is incompatible with that stupid projector...

    you are in 10 right?

after you plug in the projecter try clicking on the "detect displays" optionin the monitors menu at the top right hand corner of your screen.... if that doesnt work, make sure the projector is VGA and that it is plugged in all the way...

if you are still having problems there might be a problem with the iBook's hardware...

are you using the same cable as the PC laptops?

have you put your ibook to sleep before connecting? You should try that (especially if you're in classic) (: close the lid, or put it to sleep otherwise, then connect hardware, then wake the ibook up, now it should work, and if it doesn't... shit on a pole, I guess.

That's very odd. I have never had to do anything to get my iBook (OS9 and OSX) to show up on a projector. I just plug it in.

Are you sure the VGA connector is fully inserted into the iBook?

Don't some (perhaps) older projectors need specific screen resolution and refresh rates? Check what resolutions and refresh rates your PC friends are using and if they are different than your ibook try setting the ibook to match their settings.

I have an older svga projector @ the house and I use OS9. I always have to put it to sleep in order to have the projector, or any other external video source, recognized.

I am using 10.2.1, but I cannot find any "detect options" on my top right hand corner...

Just more info, I am using the VGA adapter cable packaged with my purchase of my ibook. And if the projector cable fits perfectly with my adapter, Why won't it work.

Btw, my refredsh rate is zero, i think.... does it matter???

I hooked up a projector to an iBook (10.1.5) once. I used a VGA adapter.

    first, it didn't worked.

then, we had to check with the settings of the projector. after dome fiddling around it worked.

and in the monitor panel you have to set the 2nd screen (projector) to NTSC or PAL, depending where you live, USA or Yurrup.

    try !

    Maybe some bug in jaguar.1?

Does anybody else use jaguar.1 and a projector?

i dun have access to my schol projector now, but on the day when I fiddles with it, I did try to connect the VGA adapter first and then switch off my ibook

I on my ibook a couple of mins later, hoping to see the projector screen with my presentation, but nothing happened... same thing: no input

Hmm, I've done it and it's never had problems. Do you know the model number/brand of the projector and maybe we can track some info down on the company's website. If you've got the a/v cable, you could try that. It's actually much easier to use and cooler anyway...
