well, the thread title says it all... bad, cheap f'n batteries leaked inside my digital camera. didn't hurt the unit, but the contacts are now corroded, and have a hell of a time determining if there are charged batteries in the chamber.

is there any way to clean the contacts? i have heard old wives' tales about lemon juice working well, though i can't see how MORE acid would help. or do i just have to bring it in to a shop for service?

any help would be appreciated.

try using some high percent alcohol; aka just something strong. after all it's still metal.

I just use stealwool. Works perfect. Then just wipe them off with a soft rag.

i may try the alcohol treatment... re: the steel wool, someone suggested that, too, but the contacts that were corroded are deep inside the unit (i.e. the only way to get to them is with a q-tip or other such device).

damn, the money i saved on batteries is coming back to haunt me...

I use Track cleaner (for model train sets) from a nearby hobbie store. Works great. Probably what the camera repaip shop uses.
