Scratched "Applications" CD

Hello there,

My ibook applications CD that came with the machine was severly damaged. I cannot install Appleworks from it anymore.

Can I call Apple and get it replaced (for free?)?

If not, can I salvage it? It has a deep groove about a Centimeter deep.

Thanks

Is it a brand new iBook? If so warrenty should cover it. Otherwise if they don't try disk doctor.

If not you should buy 'SkipDoctor' scratch repair device. It costs something like $30 and repairs your CD's and DVD's. Don't know where to by it in the US but it's manufactured by company called 'Digital Innovations'.

    Thanks all.

I will make myself a copy from my cousin's ibook disks... while I procrastinate in calling Apple about this.

I might give a try to the repair thingies...
