Please help me block out the sun

Does anyone know where I can get tips on colour correction/manipulation, in particular turning day into night. I've got all the tools I need in Bhodinut SLA but I just can't seem to get the colour/tone right. Anyone who's seen the video for Yellow by Coldplay will know what I mean.
