How do I convert SCSI HD to Firewire?

I have a Segate Barracuda 18 GB Ultra2 LVD (7200 rpm) drive. I am currently using it via Microtech's Fire/SCSI adapter. It works pretty decent except that I have to have a hefty 50 pin LVD SCSI cables. The drive is also very loud due to the fan. It also requires external power source. I was wondering if there was a way to convert it completely to a firewire drive, using 6 pin firewire cable so that the computer would provide the drives power. (Meanwhile, I have no idea what to do to eliminate the fan without causing overheating.)

Any tech gurus on the board? <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" />

AFAIK I don't think you can make a completely bus powered drive out of an Ultra SCSI-2 drive... it just needs more power than that.

Fire wire bus barely caries enough power for 2.5 inch IDE drives.
