DVD-R media not recognized!!

im trying to burn a dvd here on my new duel g4 but when i put the dvd-rs in that i bought from best buy they arnt recognizd at all the computer spits it out. the media i am using is verbatim and also memorex...both say dvd+r on them...is there a difference between dvd-r and dvd+r? and if not how can i get these dvd's to burn?

    I believe there is, and that may be the problem.



    The Apple website states Bottomline, the SuperDrive can only write to general use DVD-R discs.

    yep...there is a difference...and i went and got some dvd-R disks and they work great

    DVD R and DVD+R are conflicting standards adopted by different manufacturers who are currently fighting it out in the marketplace to achieve their format as being the consumer "standard" for recordable DVD media.
