I tried to get directed quotation marks in LaTeX using option ] and option shift ] but they don't show up in the output file for some reason (the output file is PDF).Any information would be appreciated.

For something like a quote-within-a-quote, use \\, to add a small space between them.

LaTeX--pronounced "Lay-Teck." It's an open-source typesetting system, which specializes in setting mathematics and structured documents (papers, journal articles, books). There are a couple of mac versions around--TeXshop, which is free and for OS X, and TeXtures, which isn't free.

<strong>Does anyone know any good LaTeX resources, both on- and offline? I could do with a manual.

[quote] Smart quotes, right? Not straight? Done in LaTex by typing two single quotes in a row, next to each other.<hr></blockquote>
Actually it doesn't work either,it produces two left pointing quotes,I'm using TeXShop.
