I tried to get directed quotation marks in LaTeX using option ] and option shift ] but they don't show up in the output file for some reason (the output file is PDF).Any information would be appreciated.

Smart quotes, right? Not straight? Done in LaTex by typing two single quotes in a row, next to each other.

[code] ''This is a quotation mark'' </pre><hr></blockquote>

For something like a quote-within-a-quote, use \\, to add a small space between them.

    [code] ''\\,'quote'\\,'' </pre><hr></blockquote>

LaTeX--pronounced "Lay-Teck." It's an open-source typesetting system, which specializes in setting mathematics and structured documents (papers, journal articles, books). There are a couple of mac versions around--TeXshop, which is free and for OS X, and TeXtures, which isn't free.

Does anyone know any good LaTeX resources, both on- and offline? I could do with a manual.
