Longer boot times.Why is that??

Yesterday I decided to update quicktime with 6.0.2. I started the painful 19.2 MB download with my modem but half way through it said that it encountered a problem and the installation stopped. I did a restart and I found that my boot time has increased by 4 seconds. For no reason at all... From 54 to 58 seconds. I run the software update again stuck in the same spot. I tried one more time today stuck in the same spot but I run software update immediately after and the installation resumed and in a matter of seconds the installation was complete.... It was half way through and on a 56k modem it's impossible to download 8 or so megabytes in a few seconds. Anyway I do a restart and now the boot time has increased again and now it's at 1:02. What the heck went wrong??? Is there any maintenace utility to see if there's something that doesn't have to do with quicktime? I'm getting really frustrated here.

I use a powerbook667DVI with 512MB of memory and 10.2.1.

Thanks in advance

do you care about 8 seconds? <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" /> maybe it's the moon outside, who knows.

If it makes you feel any better, I had my boot time extend all the way up to about 4 minutes!

Of course I just backed up my data and reformatted the thing.

    Works fine now.

On start up, hold down the Shift key and see what happens. It might be an additional log in item. Holding down the shift key disables these items. Next, go to /Library/Receipts and delete any Quicktime related items, restart.
