do I need virus protection if I just bought a new ibook. I download music and programs from the web. what is the best virus software to get?

You should only be concerned with virus protection on the files if you share them with freinds who have windows systems.
If they get one of your files, the virus may affect their system, depending on how it is transported.
For instance. Giving them a file on a disk may not cause it to go off.
Emailing the file to them may allow it to activate.
I hope that is a bit more... constructive for an answer.

Friends don't let friends use windows...
Instead one should beat them soundly about the head and shoulders. It will make them get the same headache, and it's therapeutic for you as well.
