I've got a SmartDisk VST firewire cd-rw hooked up to my G4, but Toast won't recognize it.
Discburner works fine, so does iTunes.
any ideas anyone?

He didn't suggest that it was Apple's problem...in fact he made it seem less likely as he pointed out that iTunes and Disc Burner worked fine.

which model do you have?
edit:
<a href="

; target="_blank">this link</a> is the 5.x to 5.2 updater for Toast. says it's designed for 10.2 as well. might want to give this a shot first.

if your in nine: disk burne and toast can get in the way of eachother. you can remove "firewire support library" and "disk burner extension"
if you are in ten: update toast
