OS Freezes when coming out of Sleep!?!

I have a PowerBook Ti G4 400Mhz. I use OS9 and X depending on what I am working with. In either OS, if my laptop enters sleep ... It turns into Rip Van Winkle. The Backlight will come back on, but it is frozen solid and needs to be hard booted. What's the deal? Anybody have any tips I can try? My temp solution has been to shut sleep off altogether ... But that isn't solving the problem now is it? Thanks in advance.

    what version of OS 10 are you using?

    OS X 10.2.2 ... and I don't think I have been having trouble yet since I updated, Maybe when the disks spin down. Are there any Firmware sites I can check out?

    just set the 'Book to sleep, then close the lid. that should solve the problem.
