As long as you dont ask me to expain everything will be ok. I reinstalled OS 10.2 and saved my previous system, but didn't have it reinstall my users and stuff (didn't check that box, ya know?) Is there anyway to get all my prefs and stuff back, because I have some important things in there and really need them!

Thanks in advance!

if you saved your previous system, you'll find the stuff in Macintosh HD/"Old System"/Users/...

(I don't really know if it's "Old System" but something like that.)

Create the user accounts in X (don't copy the folders), then just copy all the folders (particularily Library) from old system/users/user to new system/users/user

    Should work

    Check permissions in Terminal . <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />

Yeah, if you move things over manually, *especially* if you use 9, you're going to have to restore permissions manually as well. Remember, OS9 does NOT respect permissions in any way at all. OS9 treats everything like a root user -- no protection whatsoever.

so i should log into root, drag my old libraries to my new home folder and then make that account the owner?

    permissions stink!

I think what's happening is you have permission to access the Library folder, but do not have permission to access/change some of the folders inside. If you wanted to change everything so you have access(Which I do not recommend doing) You need to get the info for the folder Library and in the Window, change your access permissions and click "Apply to enclosed items..." button.
