Powerbook G3 DVD player issue....

I'm getting the error "can't find hardware" etc. found here....

<a href="http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=24865&amp;SaveKCWindowURL=http:% 2F%2Fkbase.info.apple.com%2Fcgi-bin%2FWebObjects%2Fkbase.woa%2Fwa%2FSaveKCToHomePa ge&searchMode=Assisted&kbhost=kbase.info.apple.com &showButton=false&randomValue=100&showSurvey=false &sessionID=anonymous|158381236" target="_blank">Apple's Support Page about the issue</a>

.... DVD's used to work. But I hadn't bothered to monkey with them recently. I'm not sure what caused this condition but now I can't watch DVDs. I've tried everything that article says to do. (rebuilt desktop, modified extensions, purged pram, checked sound input, reinserted card in lower slot etc).

Any further ideas? Thx!

It's been years since I've used this. I once had an issue something like this that was solved by reinstalling the DVD software. This came on a disk together with the card. I believe there was at least one update to this software.
