Help! My Inbox is flooding with bounced messages!

Hey, everyone. My email inbox is being flooded with bounced messages that I've supposedly sent (but haven't). I'm guessing that this is the work of the Klez.E (?) virus. Anyone have any suggestions what I can do about it? It started this morning, and I've received over 80 "bounced" messages so far. Help! <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Klez harvests email addresses from web cache among other places. So for the future you might consider obfusicating your email address when you post it on the web, like here for instance.

If you don't want the emails to reach your inbox you need a solution on the server side. Perhaps you could contact Earthlink. Or you could reroute your emails through a third party tool such as spamcop.

yeah, this happens to me about twice a year. I get bounced messages coming to me because my email addy was used in the "FROM" line of a spam sent out to like everyone on the internet and the eight cousins they didn't know they had.

Use mail and start teaching it that these are spam. Then put it into action, and you no longer have to look at the crap.



I went through about a month of mail service error crap, till i taught mail it was all spam
