October should be an interesting month…

Microsoft releases Windows 8 on October 26th. If I'm Apple I'm firing on all cylinders this month. So this starts with the updated iPad with lightning connector and possibly an A6 processor. It continues with a smaller iPad (iPad mini).

Then, of course, there are the new iMacs with less reflective glass displays. They should be very attractive. Throw into the mix a 13-inch MacBook Pro with retina display.

Add to all of that, the new iPods announced last month start shipping along with a redesigned version of iTunes.

Then finally quarterly earnings close it out on the 25th - one day before Windows 8 hits.

It's shaping up to be an all out blitz from Apple to drown out Microsoft's launch of Windows 8. Any way you slice it, October should be an interesting month.

I would expect an ipad mini (or large 3G ipod touch) to have a fair bit of media noise. The imac update and macbook 13" Retina would be less of a sensation so perhaps before the 25th to get Apple attention then ipad mini on a near date to pull attention.

Just holding out for a new imac so keen to get it before xmas.

    Big questions:

Does the Thunderbolt Display get updated for USB 3?  Do other issues with it get resolved, such as being able to support a non-Display Port display on pass through without an intermediate Thunderbolt device?

Do they finally roll out an Ivy Bridge iMac?

Is it possible to do a 13 inch Macbook Pro with integrated graphics on Ivy Bridge with a Retina display, or does that require the big advancements in integrated graphics promised for Haswell?

If the 13's integrated graphics aren't up to delivering Retina resolution without Haswell Core processors, does Apple at least offer the 13-inch Pro with a 1440x900 display like the 13 inch Air?  Maybe even a 1440x900 matte display option??

Hopefully yes to all of these. They need to move it! Go for the iPad in November please.
