Paint Peeling on 667 DVI

ok, it looks like it is starting right above the CD drive... what is my best course of action to

A) make sure it doesnt progress

B) fix it

C) prevent it from happening in the future



(right now it is just a small visual "wrinkle" in the paint that was not there before... but i have a feeling it will get worse...) <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />

    I couldnt agree more with M3D JACK except for the fact that a little astheitc problem isnt all that bad!



    Buy some paint (ie TiPaint or better) and paint it.

    Be More Carefiul with insertion of CDs etc.



    Fixing it isnt all that necesery if you are not all that worried. I would leave it and forget about it till you replace it in the future, just as you would do with, for your example, your first car(???)

    At first don't use ti paint. I've heard a lot and I mean a lot of bad comments for the paint and the service the company offers. I haven't used it so it's not my opinion I just transfer to you what I've heard.



    I think that you might try to forget about it cause I don't think that there's much to do about it.



    A more logical thing than buying a new machine is to buy a second keyboard so that you won't need to touch the surface ever again.

    apple is now accepting paint chips as a complaint point (AFAIK). try and call apple.

    I remember seeing all the horror pictures last year about chipping paint on the TiBooks. And now, my $3200 baby is chipping BAD! At first, I thought my sweat was just more acidic than most peoples, but it's chipping everywhere and it looks like sh*t. I've heard that Apple is purportedly taking these back and replacing them, but what bothers me is that if you search Apple's forums - there are people this continues to happen to after TWO replacements. The rumor is that it's a new metal part that accepts paint better, as well as helps dissipate heat. Unless Apple replaces your magnesium (I think?) part with the new metal one - it will continue to chip and flake.



    Did you know...that Sony viao has a laptop with a 16in display!? And (shocker) it's cheaper than a TiBook.



    I love my TiBook - don't get me wrong.

    This is why I'd never buy a PowerBook from eBay...







    Call Apple. It's worth a shot. If it goes nowhere, THEN you can saddle some poor bastard with it.

    I seem to have haad fantastic luck with my TiBook! No pain problems really, except a tiny (like mircroscopic) chip of paint that came of near where the power adapter plugs in!

    when i think of the amout of problems I have had with this machine... it doesnt sound like that bad of an option



    and i have heard of problems with the TiPaint also... not even going to consider it.



    the main reason i am asking is to see if there is some way i can postpone this from happening... i just found another little wrinkle... it isn't all that bad... but I have a feeling it is going to get much worse...

    the paint right above my dvd drive on my 667 just started bubbling... it's on the top of the white frame... not peeling yet but bubbling.





    I AM PISSED! this better not spread and get worse.. i've had enough problems with this powerbook and other apple products... it's getting ridiculous to put up with it all anymore.... my ****ing battery only last 55 minutes now too...errrr... of course this all happened the week after my AppleCare ran out

    I have my 667 DVI for three months with only a small scratch on the lid and on the corners in the front. I've been very conscious about keyboard flex though. The damn keyboard just sounds like it cannot possibly last repeted off-center stabs. :eek:

    right, exactly what is happening over here... yours lasted a whole year longer then mine it seems <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />

    well i have tons of chips all over the case on mine due to banging it into things... (the only scratch is on the apple logo <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" /> )... i have not been very careful at all... i have to say i am surprised at the amount of abuse this thing has taken from me .. but the paint should not be bubbling...
